The Last Leg! Another early start : walking team assembled outside castle in Windsor Lunch 'on the lawn' in Brentford :15 minute dinner break Picked up a few 'stragglers' outside the Albert Hall The Last Steps Completed the @Walk4ECMO Challenge walking 182 miles in 6 days from Cardiff to London last Thursday afternoon. The walk was to raise awareness and money for the life-saving ECMO Intesive Care team at St Thomas' Hospital in London and to say thank you to the NHS for saving Tom's life. Amazing reception from hospital staff and friends as I crossed Westminster Bridge, very humbling indeed ...
Headed out from Woolhampton with Rich. Rain in the air again. Once again thanks to Liz and Robert for the B&B. Rich finished his walk at Reading, sterling effort over three days! Just me and the swans now... Day 5 completed in 31 miles. Enjoying well deserved refreshment, looking forward to the final day, hoping to arrive in gardens at St. Thomas' before 5.00pm.
Early start from Pewsey joined by Rich and Dave. Thanks big sister Liz and brother-in-law Robert for bed'n'bre a kfast! 15 miles in, quick brew in Hungerford... Another tough day, 30 miles walked. Dave and Rich were legends today, brilliant effort bring the team home as the rain fell.
Joined by Dave, Rich and George for some company for the leg along the canals. Following the picturesque Kennet and Avon canals. Yesterday's industrial transport waterways are today areas of outstanding natural beauty! A hard slog but teamwork and a few sing-songs got us through 30 miles!
Crossing the old Severn Bridge to start the second day of my journey. Travelling on the cycle trail from Bristol, 8 miles to Bath. Nearly at the end of day 2... Finally arriving in Limpley Stoke, a very tough day. A couple of wrong turns cost me a few miles, 36 all told. On my own today but reinforcements arriving for tomorrow's leg.
Despite the drizzle got off to a great start from University Hospital Cardiff with family and friends, old and new. ... 31 miles later Tom and I arrived in Chepstow.
